It took me so long to figure out exactly what I was looking for.
There was a deep drive for something but I didn’t know what it was.
I searched for the thing I wanted to do… but I never solved my yearning.
I liked math and tech and puzzles, and everyone looked to me for tech support, so I studied Computer Science at Rutgers, getting close with the professors and heading 2 clubs.
But something was missing.
I got a job with Major League Hackers, the main hackathon sponsor, mentoring and running hackathons around the country, but before I started, a couple people I worked with assassinated my character, called up my hiring manager and got me fired. To this day I do not know what they had alleged about me, but I know what I did next.
I thought. And I realized… it wasn’t computer science that I cared about.
It was the travel. It was the travel I was excited for.
So 2 semesters from graduation, a slew of friends and status at a world-class university, two well-respected Computer Science professors and a key faculty member as well as several peers begging me to stay, I decided to leave and travel the world.
To tropical South America, to Icy Eastern Europe I ventured. I explored, I introspected.
But what I was looking for, a deeper sense of fulfillment and passion, kept eluding me. When I dove into the unknown, I felt excited. I felt invigorated. But it didn’t hit anything deeper.
There was a deeper hunger I was never sure how to quench.
I did one thing and it worked for a bit to make me feel fulfilled, but it didn’t satisfy it.
So I tried something more… I worked hard at something else. And I felt fulfilled for a bit but then the emptiness lay wide open like a hungry mouth.
What did it want?
I searched within myself, I searched without myself.
And I found it.
We need meaning.
Direction, but not just something to do, or a goal, or a career or a relationship.
A deeper sense of purpose, something behind the other things we do.
A meaning. A desire. A drive.
And this drive gives us direction and purpose. It makes the hard times mean something. It makes the good times shine their prosperity not just into our emotions in that moment, but into our soul.
I’ve found all the pieces of passion and fulfillment through my journey, and I’ve learned so much along the way.
The more I’ve sacrificed, the deeper I understood passion and purpose.
I recall one specific instance, looking over the balcony of the AirBnB in Calí, Colombia. Drinking chocolate caliente, a much more rich version than I’d ever had, over a foreign city, bustling and alive… I understood.
As I piece these pieces together in my own life, I share the lessons I’ve learned.
Through my Podcast, my Blog, my Youtube Channel… Through my craft business and by coaching people to build an authentic and genuinely passionate and fulfilling lifestyle while being themselves, I share the fruits to the world.
I’ve found what my deep hunger really wants.
I want the passion I feel when I travel, when I craft, when I hold a gorgeous girl’s hand as she shows me her city from the inside out… The girl I took a chance on by telling her she was gorgeous right there…
I want that passion to shine not just from me and my life, but from everyone. I want to see everyone find their passions and shine it into the world.
Together, we can beat your resentment and make the world a more passionate place to live by helping YOU tap into YOUR inner passion and purpose and let it shine into the world.
